Horace Greeley

We are all familiar with the name Horace Greeley.

He was famous for many reasons, he was a politician but most of all he was the founder of the New York Tribune.

In 1917, two men, P. G. Scull and C. W. Tuthill, as a team raced a car across the United States.  The vehicle that they drove was a 1917 Maxwell Touring Car.  What better way to make a transcontinental drive than in a touring car.  They drove from Newark, N. J. to Los Angeles, CA. in 10 days and 16 hours.  That set a national record for driving coast to coast.

They must have taken Horace Greeley literally when he said "Go West, young man".  Because nothing has been written about their return trip to Newark.
